Why Personal Branding is Important

Why is Personal Branding Important?

Personal branding is incredibly important for many reasons.

  • It creates trust with your audience

  • It effectively tells your story and reflects your brand

  • The images you use are your visual voice. It is how your brand looks, feels, and connects with your audience

  • If you want to be seen as a professional, you must have professional photos. This is your first step in creating the right first impression.

What is Personal Branding?

Personal branding photography is a collection of professional brand photographs for entrepreneurs and business owners alike. Do you have an online presence? Here are just a few samples:

  • Your Website

  • Linkedin

  • Facebook

  • Instagram

  • YouTube

Personal branding is the essence of your business. It is what sets you apart from your competition.

Defining your Brand

Who is your ideal client? Dig deep into who they are, what their pain-points are and how you can connect with them. If you are unsure you can start with some phone interviews either with past clients or with people you think may be your ideal client.

It is not enough to create a website, add in all the information, and expect magic to happen. As a photographer, I used to think that my images would sell themselves. Turns out I was wrong! I realized that I was not connecting with my ideal clients, and my website was getting me nowhere. Once I established their pain points and how I can help solve their problems, things changed for me. I know that once I get clients in front of my camera, I have a client for life but I had to work on building that trust first!

Benefits of personal branding photography

  1. First impressions count. As I stated earlier, it is important to create a positive first impression. Your sense of professionalism, expertise, and demeanour plays a huge role of a potential client’s decision to do business with you.

  2. Show your personality. Your professional branding images demonstrate your unique personality. A nice smile creates comfort and connection, while a power pose may create your business expertise. Each image plays its own story throughout your online presence.

  3. Creates trust and credibility. If you don’t have professional photos, you cannot expect your potential clients to view you as a professional. Moreover, when you have branding photography that showcases your expertise, you are demonstrating to your clients that you are an expert in your field.

  4. Creates a connection with your clients. In the digital world, it can be difficult to connect with potential clients unless you have the right tools in place. This again starts with a strong headshot and personal branding photography because it allows you to stand out from your competition.

  5. It’s more than just a headshot. This is where you can demonstrate what it is like to work with you, your processes, and how you operate. This is your story!

You Are Your Brand

Like most products and services, people buy from who they like and trust. You are your brand! People want to see who is behind the product or service. It takes potential clients approximately 12 touch points before they decide to make an investment. When you are posting photos and videos of yourself, you are reminding those potential clients of who you are and why they should buy from you. Branding is not about how you look, what you drive, where you live; but about who you are and your values.

What to Look for in a Branding Photographer

When looking for a branding photographer in Vancouver, there are many things to consider:

  1. Services Offered Look for a photographer who provides the services that you require. (ie Hair and Makeup, studio time, client closet, locations, style consultation)

  2. Connection It is important to work with someone you connect with and who takes the time to understand your needs and your vision. It the photographer doesn’t know you prior to the session, there is no way that they can create the story that you need to convey.

  3. Timing It is important that you hire a photographer that will give you more than one hour for your branding photography session. You will need a vast variety of photographs and this cannot be done in one hour. You need to consider how many locations you need as well as outfit changes.

  4. Poses Look for a photographer who is an expert in posing clients, who understands angles and the meaning behind a pose.

What does a personal branding photoshoot include?

When you are ready to book a personal branding session with me, Sabrina Huff Photography, your branding shoot will include a styling and concept consultation, location planning, hair and makeup, posing and direction.

I have broken down each part of the branding package, so you know what to expect when you book a brand photoshoot with me.

Brand Photoshoot Packages

  1. Complimentary Phone Consultation. Before we even begin to work together, you will book a free consultation to determine if we are a great fit! We must connect personally and professionally for a successful branding photography session to work.

  2. Pre-shoot questionnaire. Your personal branding questionnaire will help you get clear on your ideal client, target market, visual identity and branding, so we know what kind of images will attract your dream customers.

  3. Concept & style consultation. We will set up a meeting prior to your branding session to get a clear idea on your target market, branding, and vision. We will create your outfits and discuss how you would like your hair and makeup done.

  4. Hair & Makeup. The hair and makeup artist will come to your home to pamper you and bring out your beautiful, professional self.

  5. Photo Session. I can photograph you at my home studio in Pitt Meadows or a location of your choice. I’ll guide you throughout the entire session along with posing and direction, so you can relax and have fun!

  6. Ordering Appointment. I will set up a meeting with you within 2 weeks after your portrait session where I will help you pick your best branding images and we will discuss any additional editing that you may require.

  7. Online Gallery. Once the final touches have been completed your images will be ready for download via an online gallery. You will be able to download both high resolution and web-ready.
