1.Get your nails done

Keep to neutral tones so that the colours do not clash with any of the outfits or background.

2. Have a checklist

Plan ahead and pack the night before so that you don’t forget the essentials. Below are some suggestions to help prepare:

  • 2-3 outfits – Choose a few favourite outfits so that you have variety

  • Accessories – Think earrings, necklaces, fabrics, robes, oversized sweaters, and button down shirts.

  • Lotion – Keep your skin moisturized and looking absolutely soft and beautiful.

3. Create a Vision Board

Peruse the web. Look for inspiration and create your vision board. I love looking at Pinterest for inspiration and Instagram is great too! Consider what they are wearing, what the vibe is, and what props are being used. This should help you determine how you want to look and feel for your boudoir session in Calgary.

4. Consider How You Want to Display Your Boudoir Portraits

There are a few products to consider. Do you want a keepsake album? Do you want them saved in a beautiful portfolio box? or would you like them to be displayed on your wall? With a few different options to consider, contact your photographer as they should have product samples to show you to help narrow down your choices.

5. Meet Your Photographer Before Your Boudoir Session

This is important! You need to connect with your photographer so that you are comfortable during your session. It can be over the phone, via zoom, or in-person. When you have created a bond with your photographer, you will feel more comfortable and in turn it will translate in your session, thus creating even more beautiful portraits.

A lot of the above tips are useful with other types of photography sessions as well and I hope that these 5 tips are helpful on How to Prepare For a Boudoir Photoshoot in Calgary.
